Twelve Senators ask Villar to return P6.2B

These are the twelve senators who signed the Committee of the Whole report that orders presidential candidate Manny Villar to return the P6.2 billion pesos which the government spent in the controversial C-5 Road Extension Project:

Sen. Edgardo Angara
Sen. Benigno Aquino III
Sen. Rodolfo Biazon
Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile

Sen. Francis Escudero
Sen. Jinggoy Estrada
Sen. Richard Gordon
Sen. Jamby Madrigal

Sen. Panfilo Lacson
Sen. Francis Pangilinan
Sen. Manuel Roxas II
Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri

The Committee of the Whole has released a resolution stating that Villar's conduct in connection with the project was improper and unethical since his companies benefitted from the project.

Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, chairman of the committee of the whole that probed the case, said this is only one of the sanctions meted on Villar that are included in the committee report, which he would sponsor on the floor Tuesday.

The P6.22 billion, according to the 84-page report, was the amount “Villar made the Filipino people suffer" for the benefit of his corporations.

Villar is the ninth richest Filipino in 2009 with a net worth of $530 million, according to Forbes Magazine.

We really have to be wise and vigilant this coming presidential elections.  We are seeing some preview of the characters of our candidates.

For someone to succeed, one must have leadership.  For someone to lead, one must have character, For someone to have character, one must have moral integrity.
